While a lot of school graduates dream to study in Europe, some of them were lucky to make a great choice – to study in Ukraine at Odessa National Medical University. Odessa National Medical University is a major medical institution in Ukraine with the highest level IV of accreditation assigned by the State authorities. Founded in 1900, Odessa National Medical University takes pride in over 110 years of its history. About 75 000 of doctors were trained here of which over 6000 graduates and 300 doctors with specialization and super specialization represent different countries of Europe and Asia. Odessa National Medical University is a member of European and International Associations of universities as well as International Scientific Committee of UNESCO. Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine awarded Odessa National Medical University for the introduction of present-day learning model for English speaking students. All the departments of the Odessa National Medical University have its websites with necessary educational materials published in English. Owing to clear and simple application procedure, standardized rules for admission and willingness of the administration to provide the official invitation for foreign students, it becomes really easy to study in Ukraine for those applicants who are eligible for the University requirements.

• Up-to-date training process

Odessa National Medical University provides coherent, fundamental special training in several fields of medicine like General Medicine (M.B.B.S), Dentistry/stomatology (B.D.S) and Pharmaceutics (M.PHARMA). Training process includes testing, distance learning, credit-unit system, independent system of knowledge evaluation. If you would study in Europe, you’d have to look good for a university with such a powerful academic teaching staff: among more than 800 teachers there are 18 academicians, 105 professors and 407 candidates of medical science. On 20 000 m² of Odessa National Medical University there are three museums, numerous library, publishing and printing complex, latter-day computer center. The Radiology Department

X-ray room is equipped with modern X-ray equipment, including American-made “General Electric”, which allows examination of all organs and systems in full:

• Thoracic organs (including preventive – fluorography);
• Of the gastrointestinal tract (fluoroscopy of esophagus, stomach, small intestine, irrigoscopy);
• osteoarticular system (including functional studies of the spine, special study of temporal bones);
• URINARY SYSTEM (EXCRETORY UROGRAPHY, METROSALPINGOGRAPHY);
• Mammary gland – mammography;
• Radiography of teeth;

International Relations

Since 1996, Odessa National Medical University is in continuous co-operation with European and International Association of universities, as an active member. In 2001, it was admitted as a member of International Scientific Committee of UNESCO.

Odessa National Medical University extensively uses latest scientific techniques and practices of best universities of the world in teaching process. This great contribution is due to close links with leading universities and academic centres: Washington University (USA), Polish Academy of Medicine (Poland), Milan University (Italy), Institute of Experimental Immunology (Switzerland), the International Fund of Hippocrates (Greece), A. Schweitzer International Medical Academy (Poland), Russian Heart Scientific-productive Complex (Russia), etc.

ONMedU’s participation in the joint programs and projects with Russia, Belgium, Netherlands, USA, Germany, Austria, South African Republic, etc. makes possible improvement and introduction into training and therapeutic processes of new educational and medical technologies, obtaining of grants, annual training of teachers in the best scientific and educational centers, direct deliveries of high technology medical equipments, joint release of scientific and scholarly literature, etc. Among the grants, carried out by the scientists of ONMedU together with the foreign associates : Practical-scientific grant (AIHA, USA), Training grant (UNICEF, the children’s fund of UN), Training grant (JHPIEGO, USA) and many others.

ONMedU is continuously participating in the programs of “Vidrodzhennya” fund, in the activities of International Club “Rotary”, in the programs of American Agency of International Development (USAID) and in collaboration with the International Association of Psychosomatic Medicine (ASCONA).Ukrainian- Netherlands Practical-scientific grant “Improvement of the system of teaching family medicine in higher medical educational institutions” (MATRA).

Our chief scientists are the honorable doctors of 42 international organizations and universities, who are “doctor honoris causa” of our university. They all deliver lectures to the students and teachers yearly. Among them are: Nobel Prize Winners – Prof. Rolph Zinkernagel (Switzerland) & Prof. Yevgeniy Chazov (Russia); Prof. Juliano Di Bernardo (Italy), Spiros Marketos (Greece) and Georgiy Kryzhanovskiy (Russia); President of Polish Academy of Medicine Prof. Casimir Imiyelinski; Rectors of several universities – Prof. Stefan Doel Trachtenberg (George Washington University, USA) & Ton That Bach (Hanoi National Medical University, Vietnam), and others.

The Medical Council of India (MCI) is a statutory body with the responsibility of establishing and maintaining high standards of medical education and recognition of medical qualifications in India. It registers doctors to practice in India, in order to protect and promote the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine.
